Tasks

  • Designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby/Rails solutions.
  • Developing and documenting software design/architecture.
  • Identifying bottlenecks, bugs, and devising solutions to these problems.
  • Helping to maintain code quality and its automatization.
  • Working with various third party APIs to automate processes.
  • DevOps activities: deploying applications to test instances.
  • Contributing to all phases of the development life cycle.
  • Driving continuous adoption and integration of new technologies
  • Taking part in negotiations with customer representatives to prepare/optimize solution architecture.
  • Constant monitoring team’s code quality and optimality.

Requirements

We hope:

  • You have at least 5 years of work experience as a Back-end Engineer.
  • You have solid knowledge and production experience with Ruby/Rails.
  • You have essential DevOps skills in AWS/GoogleCloud, CI/CD, Docker/Kubernetes
  • You have basic knowledge of Front-end technologies (CoffeeScript, VanillaScript, TapeScript, React.js/Angular.js, etc.).
  • You have a structured, proactive working style.
  • You can freely read the documentation and chat with team members in English.
  • You are a self-starter and an entrepreneurial mind, as well as a team player.

Like a plus:

  • You have experience with microservice architecture.
  • You have production experience with AWS (CloudFormation, EC2, Route 53, Elasticache, RDS, Elasticsearch, AWS Lambda) and/or Google Cloud technologies.
  • You have experience with DDD, Event-Driven Systems, Service-Oriented Architecture, EventSourcing, and CQRS.
  • You know Kubernetes and Terraform.
  • You know GraphQL.
  • You have practical experience in the definition and rectification of system architecture (for small and midsize solutions).

About the project

We are looking for a talented Back-end senior Developer (Ruby/Rails) who will join the development team that works for one of our US customers located in Silicon Valley. The team is building a product that is aimed to automate the budgeting process for different government institutions and consist of the following modules: — Open Cloud is the only integrated cloud solution for budgeting, performance, communications, and reporting. This multi-tenant Software-as-a-Service (“SaaS”) solution connects stakeholders to the budget process, engages them for real-time feedback, accurately forecasts personnel costs, and integrates with key government systems, resulting in improved outcomes, enhanced internal efficiencies, and more time for strategic planning. — Budgeting and Performance streamlines and transforms the budget process from the initial stages of strategic planning and personnel forecasting on through final publication while enabling collaboration throughout. Leverage budgeting and performance modules to plan and manage strategic initiatives by capturing priorities, tying budgets to initiatives, identifying key outcomes, and engaging stakeholders. — Communications and Reporting are used by governments for engaging with constituents and stakeholders. With this module, leaders can analyze and communicate complex topics and decisions in a simple manner anyone can understand. Agencies are able to build trust with colleagues and residents by gathering input on key initiatives and aligning budget and the strategic plan to both performance objectives and public expectations. — Open Data is powered by enterprise-ready CKAN, delivers public data to civic developers, businesses, and citizens. This solution provides a hosted and managed CKAN instance with customizable portals. The company was founded in 2012 and is constantly growing and extending the market. As of April 2019, it serves over 2000 government entities and has more than 150 employees. Main offices are located in Redwood City (Headquarters), New York, and Portland.
